Vintage Diecast Toy Vehicles
Diecast toys have been produced since the 1930's by Dinky Toys in the UK and Tootsie Toys in the US. Early toys were made with Zamak alloy and impurities int he alloy resulted in metal fatigue which led to the models cracking or decomposing unpredictably. it is difficult therefore to find diecast toys before the 1940's in good condition. Gaining in popularity inb the 1950's and with better casting techniques the detail and quality of the diecast toys imporved enormously. Corgi introduced the first toy car with plastic windows and detailed interiors. Also during the 1960's toy cars were used for promotion and cars with advertising slogans were produced. We regard pre-1970's models as 'vintage' and you will find our range below.
